Poster Project
(Photoshop, Illustrator, and AutoCAD)

An in-depth project I completed in the Digital Design Graphics Technology (DDGT) program was my Poster Assignment. This was a multi-step project that taught me how to utilize Photoshop, Illustrator, and AutoCAD to create a high-quality poster ready for print. Of course, you may notice that I took some elements from a previous poster and created my own variation with the help of my professor, Gary Strommen.

One of the more time-consuming parts of this project was recreating some logos commonly found at Napa Valley College (NVC). To do this, I used AutoCAD to create a wireframe of the original logos, closely following their linework and ensuring each shape was fully closed. From there, I opened my DWG file in Illustrator and then brought it into Photoshop so the image could maintain its raster properties while allowing for further editing. After that, I recreated each individual shape by building multiple layers and components of the logo so they would align and combine to form the complete design.

After that, I took an original image from the existing poster and cropped it, then added more vibrant images from my own AutoCAD projects. I also recreated the image border from the original poster and masked the Photoshop elements so they would fit within the new frame.

Another time-consuming portion of this project was matching the text font. After much trial and error, I was able to identify the correct typeface. At this point, the project was coming together, and I was able to add some personal flair. I applied a drop shadow effect to everything except the logos and finalized the texture effect for the blue background. The final step was creating the cutting guides and reviewing the project for quality assurance.
