Drill Press Bracket
(Inventor)

Working Drawing Sheet Set

The drill press bracket was one of the more detail-oriented assignments I completed in Autodesk Inventor. This project required a high level of precision, planning, and an understanding of how feature order impacts the stability of a parametric model.

The objective was to create a fully defined working model suitable for documentation and manufacturing. However, as additional features were introduced, the part quickly became more complex. It became especially clear that the sequence in which features were created—particularly fillets—played a critical role in whether the model would succeed or fail.

I began by establishing the primary geometry of the bracket using base features and extrusions. From there, I added secondary features such as cuts, holes, and supporting geometry to refine the design. One of the main challenges of this project was applying 3D fillets in the correct order. If applied too early or out of sequence, certain features would fail or prevent subsequent geometry from being created properly. This required careful planning, forward thinking, and at times revisiting earlier steps to maintain a stable and fully defined model.

Throughout the process, I developed a stronger understanding of parametric modeling principles and how feature dependencies affect overall design intent. This project reinforced the importance of sequencing, accuracy, and intentional modeling practices when working with more complex parts in Inventor.

Overall, the drill press bracket project strengthened my confidence in managing intricate models and highlighted how critical planning and foresight are in 3D design workflows.

Below are three images from the project. The left and right images are 3D isometric renderings of the completed part, providing a clear visualization of the final design. The center image shows the completed working drawing used to document the bracket’s dimensions and manufacturing details. Feel free to click on the images for a better view.
