Personal 3D Printing Projects
A collection of personal 3D printing projects, including prototypes, design experiments, and even just some stuff I made for fun. Camera Dolly End CapsDescription: 3D pieces that I designed to fit 1 inch PVC pipe to act as a rail system for a homemade camera dolly that can be mounted on light stands. Rails are held by bolts. Not entirely ideal for the heavier duty camera setups, but perfect for a smaller camcorder or mobile phone Software Used: AutoCAD / Inventor Material: PLA, PVC pipe Hand ScanDescription: A 3D scan I made of a plaster cast of my right hand to use for sizing pieces to my cosplays. I may also use it to sculpt any other prosthetic effects if needed, but I felt it was important at this time to grab a 3D scan if in the event to the casting is damaged or lost, maybe even 3D print a duplicate Software Used: RealityScan Material: Alginate, plaster Sonic RingsDescription: I am a huge Sonic The Hedgehog fan, and for my fan series Emerald Hill, there's no way to NOT feature the iconic gold ring. I started with a large ring because I thought it be cool to have for any close up shots (similar to what they did on Lord of the Rings) then I did an in-between size, and then finally printed an actual sized one basing the measurements off a wooden ring you find at the craft store (though slightly scaled up) The prints were then coated with fiberglass resin, sanded until smooth, then body filler was applied to fill any other holes, then finally sprayed with a reflective gold paint. Software Used: Inventor Material: PLA, fiberglass resin, Bondo body filler, gold spray paint |
