My name is Jorge Garcia. I’m a student at Napa Valley College working towards getting my AS degree in Digital Design Graphics Technology. I was born and raise in a small town in Michoacán, Mexico. I come from a family of five. I have one sister and one brother. I’m the oldest and the first in my family that attends college. My family decided to move to California in the year of 2001 looking for better opportunities. My dad also wanted to bring us to achieve better education. He is the person who encourages me to go as far as I can in my education. I grew up seeing my dad how hard life can be without a career. I want to bring better thing to my family in a near future.

Major challenges that require all of the skills I have are what give me strength. As a kid, I dreamed of been an auto mechanic and fix my own car. I also wanted to be able to design it. At this moment engineers are very advanced in designs of the future car. One of current dreams is to contribute to the process of bringing those designs to life. I would like to be one of those designers who are looking for solutions to eliminate our dependence on petroleum. Building projects that are in development is what I want to accomplish.

The key for success is education and hard work. Hard work is what is going to bring me the things I desire the most. Education is what is going to help me get there. It’s what is going to give the ability to achieve my goals. My goal is been able to make all of my dreams a reality. Although my goals seem to be hard, they will never be impossible.
