Our assignment was to fix and improve images that have rips, tears, water spots, creases, or color issues.
The Original images are shown below. Mouse-over the image to see my improvements. Click on the image to open another window showing both the Before-and-After images to see the differences.
Wedding Image:
This image had a lot of issues to repair. There are rips and creases, water spots, dirt, dust, and age. First, I was able to fix the creases and tears by using the Clone Tool and Healing Brush Tool. I changed the contrast of the picture so that the image wasnt so dark in the areas with shadows. I wanted to preserve the age of the picture, so I didn't change the colors so much that the dress would be BRIGHT white; I changed it just enough so that the dress didn't look dirty.
The Old Family Picture:
The original image started out with a tear in the corner, and the coloring was too faint. I used the Clone Tool and the Healing Brush Tool to repair the tears. I then changed the contrast so that the image was darker in the places that it needed more coloring. I also did some minor retouching to sharpen some important areas of the image.
